CTA apprises JU VC about issues, demands of College teachers

JAMMU, Sept 28: A delegation of College Teachers Association, led by president CTA Jammu, Prof D S Manhas, called on Vice Chancellor, Jammu University and discussed with him various issues related to College Teachers.
The Registrar JU, Controller JU, Director Colleges Development Council, Director DDE, JR Finance, representative of DAA and representative of DRS, were also present in the meeting.
CTA raised the issue of allowing the college teachers to act as Guide and Co-Guides for pursuing research, enhancement of the rates of remuneration for the conduct of examination duties and expediting the process of selection of various posts such as Registrar, Controller of Examination, and Director College Development etc.
CTA demanded that there should be provision of supernumerary seat for wards of college teachers in each of the PG Departments of the University and also for college teachers over and above the normal intake for pursuing Ph D in each Department of the University as per provisions of UGC regulations 2018.
The Association also demanded that separate examination calendar should be prepared for winter zone colleges of Jammu division as students in such colleges get ample time in one semester i.e from March to November, but very short time in the other semester i.e from February to April, which is not justified.
Other issues raised by CTA, included; representation of college teachers in University Syndicate, involvement of maximum college teachers in evaluation duty, clearance of pending bills of college teachers, advance payment for practical examination on the pattern of theory examination, establishment of single window system for collection of stationary items pertaining to examination, enhancement of remuneration for coordinators of Distance Education in colleges
The Vice Chancellor gave a patient hearing and directed the concerned officials for positive consideration of the demands of CTA.
The members of CTA, who were present in the meeting, included Dr Anil Ganjoo, Dr M S Saini, Dr Jagjit Sing, Prof Mohd Sadiq, Prof Lekh Raj, Prof Rakesh Sharma, Dr Vishal Sharma and Dr Davinder Kour.
