JAMMU, Jan 9: A delegation of College Teachers’ Association (CTA) led by Dr Rakesh Jasrotia (president CTA) today met K K Sharma, Advisor to Lt Governor of J&K UT and apprised him of various issues of urgent concern of the college fraternity.
During the interaction, Dr Rajesh Jasrotia discussed at length the various issues like implementation of UGC regulations-July 2018 in totality for appointment, Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and other rules for college teachers but at the same time taking care of those faculty members who are without PhD, establishment of a robust Directorate of Higher Education with the post of Director, Joint Director and Deputy Director to be filled from amongst the Principals and Associate Professors only so that the various issues pertaining to Higher Education Department like Probation and Placement/Promotion Cases, Grant of Study leave, etc can be administered timely and effectively.
A strong resentment was expressed by the CTA against the proposal of appointing a Senior Scale Officer from Administrative Department as Director Colleges and framing of new recruitment rules without involving the college community. Further, the Association also appealed for the restoration of increments for PhD/MPhil and other professional courses for the College Teachers at par with the universities of other Union Territories of India, enhancement of age of superannuation from existing 60 yrs to 65 yrs, release of salaries of more than 100 faculty members posted without sanctioned posts, etc.
In addition, the issue of salary of academic arrangement staff working in the colleges was also discussed threadbare and a positive response regarding this has been received from the chair. After listening patiently to the issues put forward by the Association, the Advisor issued directions to the concerned department for early resolution of the genuine demands of the fraternity at the earliest.
The other members who accompanied the delegation were Dr Sandhya, Dr Abdul Haq, Prof Amit Sharma, Prof Jugal Kishore, Dr Mohd Ashfaq, Prof Mohd Qayoom, Prof Shaveta Choudhary, Prof Rashu and Dr Sarabjeet Singh.
