JAMMU, May 8: Observing that fight against Coronavirus is a long drawn one, Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) stated that due to extended period of lockdown, many sectors like mobile, optical, shoe sellers, cloth merchants, cement, hardware, auto ancillaries and workshops etc have become essential and need to be allowed to operate in a restricted manner.
Neeraj Anand, President, Chamber of Traders Federation in a press statement issued here said, “We had a meeting of office bearers and teleconference with trade heads, wherein it came to fore that customers are calling them frequently for their daily needs.”
“Apparently there is no easy solution in site but we need to learn to live with this pandemic while taking proper precautionary measures,” added Anand.
He said that they have written to the Offices of the Lieutenant Governor, Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, seeking permission to open non-essential trades in restricted manner.
“We have suggested opening of non-essential trade from 4 pm to 7 pm on daily basis or alternate days,” said Anand.
Meanwhile, CTF appealed to all trade bodies to ensure that precautionary measures are followed and a balance is maintained between trade and health as PM Modi says ‘Jaan bhi Jahan bhi’.
Raman Gupta, Shiv Gupta, Dinesh Gupta, Tushar Gupta, Ajay Gupta and Parag Abrol were present during the meeting.
