JAMMU, June 13: A delegation of Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) led by Neeraj Anand, national vice president CAIT met Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma here, today.
The delegation discussed various issues of public concern and role of JMC with Mayor who apprised them about progress of Smart City project and on spot instructions were passed by the Mayor to remove the bottlenecks.
The Mayor informed the visiting delegation about the CAPEX expenditure (budget) which was released this year in the month of May itself while otherwise it used to be released in the month of August.
“This will not give JMC 10 months more for work,” the Mayor said.
The delegation said that it is a pride moment for the entire of J&K that the Mayor has been elected as general secretary of All India Council of Mayors.
Anand said that the Mayor has unique quality for out of box thinking and he also has the ability to provide practical solutions for the issues.
Others in the delegation said that when the Mayor was councillor he brought and got passed resolutions for
River Development Authority, crematorium for animals, tree authority and minimum qualification for a Councilor should be as graduation.
The delegation members further said that as Mayor he carried anti-polythene campaign which reflects qualities of his leadership.
Anand said: “Plastic ban without providing any alternative to consumers was proving to be ineffective but now with the intervention of Mayor an alternative has been provided with the launch of eco-friendly bags.”
He also said that the outreach programmes of Rajinder Sharma has taken on board all the stakeholders besides he made students a voice of change.
They said he supported the revamping of administrative processes in JMC and efforts for the empowerment of JMC started by the Mayor.
The delegation also said that the change in proceedings of the General House meeting of JMC and the new political orientation of JMC apart from sitting by the Mayor in his office from 9 am to 11 pm for solving the problems of public has no parallel.
Raman Gupta, acting president, CTF expressed his pleasure that the Mayor and his team for sensitively handling religious issue of ‘Saakh Visarjan’ during Navratras .
