JAMMU, Oct 26: In a big achievement, the Chandigarh University (CU), has achieved another marvellous feat, as the prestigious Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) has accredited the university’s nine engineering programmes. Now the Chandigarh University has become the highest number of ABET accredited courses among private universities in India.
The announcement in this regard was made by CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu, said that this recognition is a testament to the university’s academic excellence. ABET, which is the premier global accreditation organisation of the engineering and engineering technology programs, is widely recognised as evidence that an engineering program meets the standards set by its technical profession thus helps largely to students in career prospects.
It is also globally recognized as the ‘Gold Standard’ for engineering education and signifies that a program adheres to the highest standards in preparing its graduates to work in a global workforce. At present the engineering courses of 10 universities/institutions are ABET accredited in India.
The CU’s nine engineering courses – Aerospace Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Chemical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Civil Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Computer Science & Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Computer Science & Engineering (with specialisation), Electrical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Electronics and Communication Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) and Mechatronics Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) – were given the accreditation by the premier accreditation body.
