CU Jammu holds National Seminar on Indigenous Languages, NEP 2020

JAMMU, Mar 18: A two-day National Seminar on “Indigenous Languages and NEP 2020: Pathways to Sustainable Education” was inaugurated at Central University of Jammu (CU Jammu), here today. Sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the seminar was held under the leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor of CU Jammu and brought together eminent academicians, researchers and policymakers.
The inaugural session began with a felicitation ceremony and a welcome address by Prof. Asit K. Mantry, highlighting the significance of indigenous languages in fostering a sustainable education system aligned with NEP 2020.
Keynote speaker Prof. K. Pushpanadham, Head of the Department of Educational Administration at MS University Baroda, emphasized the role of indigenous languages in inclusive education and the potential of NEP 2020 in promoting multilingualism and integrating indigenous knowledge systems into mainstream education.
Prof. Suram Singh, Dean Academics at CU Jammu, in his speech, stressed the importance of local languages in NEP 2020 and their link to cultural identity. The seminar also saw the release of an abstract book containing scholarly contributions on the theme.
