MOHALI, June 30: Chandigarh University (CU) has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the first rank among India’s private universities in the highly regarded Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking for 2024.
The ranking, which evaluated 2963 institutions, saw Chandigarh University climb up the ladder to an overall rank of 771-780, surpassing its previous rank of 801-1001. The university’s overall score in this year’s ranking is an impressive 15.2.
Out of the 45 Indian universities featured in the 20th edition of the QS rankings, Chandigarh University secured an all-India rank of 20, encompassing both public and private institutes.
Additionally, the university stood at the 233rd spot in Asia. Notably, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay emerged as the number one ranked Indian public institute in this year’s QS World University Rankings.
This achievement comes on the heels of Chandigarh University’s successful debut in the QS World University Subject Rankings in 2023, where it secured first place in India for Hospitality Management, 11th place for Engineering and Technology, Computer Science and Information Systems, 12th place for Mechanical Engineering, and 16th place for Business and Management Studies. Furthermore, the university attained the 27th rank among India’s top universities in the recently released NIRF Rankings for 2023.
In terms of specific indicators, Chandigarh University demonstrated notable performance. While it stood as the second-best Indian university in the parameters of international students and international faculty, it secured the 6th position in employer reputation, reflecting its focus on employability and high regard among employers.
The university’s scores on various other indicators have also shown considerable improvement.
CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu expressed his delight at the university’s consistent improvement in national and international rankings, highlighting the institution’s commitment to excellence in academia and research. He emphasized the university’s vision and mission to nurture young minds, equip them with essential skills, attitudes, and values, and prepare them for the future to lead the country in various fields.
Sandhu further acknowledged the university’s commendable performance in employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, and academic reputation, crediting the continuous efforts of the students and faculty.
He reiterated the university’s commitment to sustain this momentum and strive for even better performance in the years to come.
