CUJ conducts Need Analysis Consultative Committee meet

JAMMU, Nov 19: A consultative committee meeting of the experts and State Collaborators (SIE and DIETs etc.) for need assessment of DIETs and SIEs, was organized by the Department of Educational Studies, CUJ, here today.
The agenda of the meeting was to prepare a data base on functioning related issues and concerns of DIETs in Jammu province. Further, the deliberations were made on how Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu,  could provide assistance in capacity building of functioning of DIETs under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), a Central Government Scheme.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Lokesh Koul, Professor Emeritus, Ex Dean of Studies, Dean, Department of Education, HP University. Besides, Prof  Lokesh K Verma Head & Dean, Department of Educational Studies CUJ,  Mohammad Iqbal, Joint Director of SIE Jammu and  Principals participants from ten DIETs of Jammu province. Faculty and students  of  Department of Educational Studies were amongst the members of the consultative committee.
Prof. Lokesh Verma appraised the members about the salient features of the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) scheme. He called upon the members to deliberate upon all the items of the agenda to evolve a comprehensive plan of action for its effective implementation.
Joint Director Mohammad Iqbal impressed upon the need for revisiting the whole education system right from elementary to higher education to create pool of academic and intellectual young minds having scientific temperament.
Prof  Lokesh Koul  stressed on the identification of  immediate needs felt by School Education in the State which can be modeled into deliverable package for holistic development with the active collaboration of CUJ. He insisted upon laying key emphases on the major functions of DIET which includes action research, resources support and  training of teachers.
The persons from SIE and DIETs also gave their  suggestions and highlighted different needs for promotion of desired strategies for the development of teachers training.
