CUJ cultural festival concludes

JAMMU, Apr 12: Two day cultural festival-UDAAN , organised by Dean Students’ Welfare, Central University of Jammu, concluded today.
More than three hundred participants took part in the annual event, which was the celebration of different cultures which came alive with vivid performances put up by the students from different State, studying in CUJ.
Out of seven events, three were held on the first day of the fest. The event began with photography followed by on-spot painting and collage making. In photography, students were given an hour’s time to click a photograph on the theme “Shapes and shadows” or ” Geometrical shapes.’
The second day of the fest began with Rangoli Competition in which twelve teams showed their artistic calibre. The theme of Rangoli was “Swacch Bharat”. It was followed by the Fashion show in which 55 participants walked down the ramp in their ethnic wear.
Simultaneously, group song was presented in which 14 participants sang different cultural tunes representing different parts of the country. The first prize of the event was bagged by Department of MBA (TTM), the second and third prize were bagged by Department of MBA (HRM) and Department of Physics respectively.
The final event of the fest was group folk dance in which 8 teams presented different folk dances. The team from Department of Public Policy and Public Administration won the first prize while the team from Department of Hindi was adjudged second and two teams of Department of MBA (HRM) were given the third prize.
Prizes were awarded in the valedictory ceremony which was graced by the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima and Dr Arvinder Singh Aman, Secretary, Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Ajay Kumar, Department of Comparative Religion.
