CUJ organises symposium

JAMMU, July 31: With an aim to elaborate the arena of sustainable development, a daylong symposium was organised by the Department of Environmental Science, Central University of Jammu.
The event was graced by imminent speakers from various universities. Inaugural address was delivered by Prof Deepak Pathania (Dean and HoD).
Theme of symposium was introduced by Dr. Sunil Dhar, Associate Prof. Department of Environmental Science, Central University of Jammu.
Vice Chancellor Central University of Jammu, Prof. Ashok Aima delivered the presidential address, describing the carrying capacity of the resources.
In his Lecture, Dr. Adarsh K Panday who was a invitee from Sunway University Malaysia stressed the need for sustainable development and resource conservation.
An expert lecture was given by Dr S Anand from SMVDU Katra informing the audience about Phase Change Materials and their utility in Thermal Energy. A poster session was also held in which students displayed posters pertaining to the Theme.
In the second half expert lectures were delivered by Dr Y Anand and Dr. V.V Tyagi, and they spoke about the need for Green Buildings and Conservation of energy using engineering aspects.
Last Lecture of the day was delivered by Imminent Geologist Prof A K Mahajan who described various seismic zone and hazards from earth quakes.
Concluding remarks was given by Dr. Pankaj Mehta, Assistant Professor, CUJ.
Dr. Richa Kothari, Associate Professor delivered the formal vote of thanks.
