JAMMU, Oct 1: On the eve of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Maharishi Dayanand Chair, Central University of Jammu, organised a function devoted to the theme of environment and cleanliness in India.
The Vice Chancellor of Central University Jammu, Prof Ashok Aima was the chief guest while noted Gandhian, Prof Yogender Yadav of Maharahtra was the key speaker.
The key speaker spoke about the simple life of Mahatma Gandhi and shared a number of anecdotes of Mahatma Gandhi which pointed out how he used the available resources judiciously to get maximum out of minimum. We should do something to utilise the resources for the welfare of maximum and should not waste them, he added.
VC Prof Ashok Aima emphasised the point that we should listen to the great thoughts and act upon which the leaders like Mahatma Gandhi had given to us. He said that this mother earth has everything for our need but not for our greed. We must restrict our consumption in this material world for sustainable development.
Prof Raj Mahajan, Chair Professor of Maharishi Dayanand Chair, said that Mahatma Gandhi has solution for the ongoing problems faced to India and world. The relevance of Gandhi is such that we have no option but to accept his solution, he added.
