CUJ organizes online workshop

JAMMU, May 3: School of Education under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), Central University of Jammu, organized one day online workshop on `Applications of Action Research and Professional Development’.
This online workshop focused on the key objectives to enable teachers become competent in innovatively used action research to supplement their teaching methods and thereby achieve enhanced student learning, enhance problem solving attitude among teachers and principals for studying the problems of students, provide an overview and understanding of action research and its application in real classroom setting, give an insight on a series of problems faced by teachers during teaching learning process and to improve participants’ awareness of the potential of action research to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.
In his inaugural address, Prof Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor CUJ, elaborated that teacher is the key agent of the society, thus he/she has to be very good practitioner and committed person who helps in making the society more emergent and developing. He too emphasized that school forms the base of whole education system, whose basic problems should be solved in order to strengthen the primary pillar of education system. He stressed to merge three things namely Education, Value and Character of the learners.
Dr J N Baliya, Center Coordinator, HOD, Department of Educational Studies, spoke in detail about the objectives, strategies and expected outcomes of the workshop and also appealed the participants to put in their sustained efforts in group activities.
The online workshop on Applications of Action Research was conducted with the three main methods viz. Experts and Resource person’s presentation, experience sharing and Peer based training. The workshop actually comprised of six sessions (60 minutes each) which titled as Inaugural Session, Conceptual Framework (Concept, Significance and Action Research Process), Identification of Problem and Cause Analysis, Formulation and Testing of Action Hypotheses, Interpretation of Results & Drawing Conclusions and Valedictory Session.
More than 100 participants including teachers, administrators from various schools and colleges ,research scholars across the country were on the online platform and attended this workshop.
