JAMMU, Dec 21: Centre for Assessment and Evaluation, School of Education, Central University of Jammu, organized one day workshop on “Difficulties faced by Teachers in Students’ Evaluation at school level” under PMMMNMT centrally sponsored scheme at Government Higher Secondary School, Samailpur, Jammu (adopted school by CUJ).
Vice Chancellor CUJ, Prof Ashok Aima, joined the workshop. In his remarks and address to all the participant of the workshop, he stressed on the need to own the great responsibility for the cause of education and national development through their pains taking efforts and innovative classroom practices. He also talked about the problems faced by the teachers about the various aspects and issues related to evaluation procedure and stressed the need for devising a suitable training programme accordingly.
In the inaugural session, Dr Parmod Kumar, Coordinator, Centre for Assessment and Evaluation (who was also coordinator of this workshop), highlighted purpose of the workshop, which was mainly to identify the difficulties faced by teachers during evaluation of students at all levels of school education.
Rajender Singh, Deputy Director, Academic, J & K Board of School Education, discussed the various issues related to examination system and Mr Subash, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Samailpur, Jammu, also highlighted some problems faced by teachers during evaluation of students.
Professor Lokesh K Verma, Dean and Head, Department of Educational Studies, CUJ, also addressed the participants and explained the importance of evaluation indicating how evaluation is directly related to pedagogy/teaching learning process. He also suggested that gaps in this contest need to be overcome.
Thereafter, teachers of three adopted schools pointed out the difficulties being faced during evaluation process.
In the valedictory session, Dr Aman, Co-coordinator, Centre for Assessment and Evaluation, School of Education, Central University of Jammu, highlighted the various issues raised by teachers of three adopted schools and appraised them the latest techniques of evaluation.
Afterwards, the certificates were distributed to all the participants by Rajender Singh, Deputy Director, Academic, J & K Board of School Education. He also presented a formal vote of thanks to all participants.
