CUJ organizes workshop on Digital India

JAMMU, Mar 5: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the Central University of Jammu organized University Workshop on Digital India, here today.
The workshop was part of National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEiTY), Govt of India pilot programme to generate awareness among NSS volunteers in the country.
Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Commissioner Secretary, IT J&K, inaugurated the workshop and outlined various steps taken by the J&K Govt to build digital infrastructure in the State including providing free wifi at various tourist destination in the State. Also, he mentioned that the department is focusing on capacity building at the various levels to meet the e-governance goals. The optical fibre laying project will be completed in the State soon which will provide digital connectivity to all villages, blocks and districts.
Barnali Mukherjee and Ajeet Kumar from NeGD, DeitY, New Delhi, conducted the workshop as resource persons and presented various projects under Digital India initiative. The CUJ also entered into an MoU with NSSCOM Foundation, New Delhi on capacity building on National Digital Learning Missions.
Santosh Abraham, Associate vice president, Skills Initiative and NDLM from NASSCOM Foundation, graced the occasion. He also offered that their organisation NASSCOM will train 100 students from CUJ.
Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor CUJ told students to create digital platform and be connected to world digitally. Nimisha Abrol, Sr consultant Semt, J&K, talked about electronics system designs and manufacturing. Barnali Mukherjee told students about Make in India and about e waste technologies which are going to be developed in India. Ashwani Kumar, president Press Club of Jammu, informed how media is connecting to world digitally. Prof Devanand Padha, Dr Paul Sugandhar, Dr Nancy Mengi and Dr Bhavna Arora delivered lectures on various topics.
