JAMMU, Feb 6: University Business Incubation Centre in Central University of Jammu, organized a one day workshop in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) to mark Start up India campaign.
Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister of Industry & Commerce, J&K Government, was chief guest in the inaugural function, which was presided over by Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of CUJ. Major General (Retd.) Dilawar Singh, Director General of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Chander Prakash Ganga stressed that sustainable growth is possible only if we channelize the energy of our youth in right direction. Citing lively instances, the minister focused on innovation and entrepreneurship as the backbone for the growth of the nation.
In his address, Prof Ashok Aima lauded the efforts of Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS in PMO and Vijay Goel, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, for their continuous efforts and support to promote Startup Indian Campaign across the region. He informed the gathering that 12 incubates have been registered under UBIC and number of initiatives have been taken for sensitizing the students and faculties about entrepreneurship and various schemes of Govt. He assured that the collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan shall be formalized by signing MoU.
Major General Dilawar Singh expressed his satisfaction on the efforts of UBIC and reiterated the importance of entrepreneurship for career development. He said that the skill India initiative and make in campaign can only be successful by promoting entrepreneurship.
The workshop was conducted by Farhad Acidwala, founder of Rockstah Media, investor and TEDx speaker. In his motivational session, Acidwala enthralled the audience by his experiences and encouraged the young students to follow their dreams.
Earlier, Dr Gourav Sehgal, Head Dept of Marketing and Supply Chain, introduced the event icon, Farhad Acidwala. State Director Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu, Sukhdev Singh; Dy Director Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu, S S Khajuria., T K Koul, Irtif Lone, Ved Sharma Officials of DIC, EDI, SBI lead bank, volunteers of NYKS, Heads, Deans and faculty of CUJ, students of CUJ and other institutions of State were present on the occasion.
Later, Dr Jaya Bhasin, Chairperson, UBIC, proposed a formal vote of thanks and the proceedings were coordinated by Mehak Mahajan, Dept of Animal and Plant Sciences.
