KATHUA, Mar 22: Sub Office Kathua of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) organised a dance and music (cultural) programme here at Noni Village today.
A press statement said that over 100 seasonal artists performed in the programme.
Kewal Singh, Sarpanch of Noni Village in Dinga Amb Tehsil of Kathua District was the chief guest of the programme while Darshan Kumar was the guest of the honour.
Addressing the gathering, Kewal Singh, Sarpanch, said that the cultural programme was aimed at giving a new flip and ease of life to every music and dance form. He said the preservation of culture has been taken seriously by Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages. The Village Sarpanch congratulated the artists for their performances.
The cultural programme began with a mesmerizing performance of Hern Dance by Laxman Sarmal and party who received applause from the audiences. This was followed by presentations by Ifra Ahad Khan and party (Rouf) of Srinagar, folk Dhamali Drama Theatre (Kulgam), Qazi Kashmir Theatre Group of Kupwara, Bedar Bakhat and party of Nowshera, Mukhityar Singh and party of Sujandhar, Hilal Farooq and party, Rahul Kumar and party, and Chajju Singh Katal and party.
A nukkad on themes of drugs was also presented by Society for Environment Education and Modern Art.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Sanjeev Gupta, SOCA, JKAACL Sub-Office Kathua said that J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages is always ready to give a chance to the budding as well as famed artists.
“We will continue to provide the stage to all the artists,” he further said.
