JAMMU, Feb 20: An impressive and colourful cultural programme was organized today in the auditorium of Government Medical College Jammu by the ‘Cultural Committee’ under the banner of Jammu Medical College Academics, Sports and Cultural Activities (JASCA).
MLA and former Minister for Health and Medical education, Choudhary Lal Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion while Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr Mandeep Bhandari, was the guest of honour. Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, Dr Zahid Gillani, patron of JASCA, presided over the function.
The programme lasted for about three hours during which various cultural events viz solo dance, group and solo songs, skits and mono acting were presented by the students. More than 60 students of the institute from Ist year to Final year participated in the cultural programmes.
This was a unique event organized by the Cultural Committee after a long spell of time, which was attended by the students, faculty, administration staff and others.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the performances of the students and hoped that such programmes will be organized in the institution regularly, as these types of events give the students relief from stress due to increasing study load and instill a new vigour in their mind and body.
Dr Zahid Gillani while speaking on the occasion highlighted the activities of JASCA and promised to hold more such events in near future for the welfare of the students.
Dr Bhupesh Khajuria, chairman of the Cultural Committee and HOD, Forensic Medicine Department, Dr AS Bhatia, HOD Biochemistry and chairman, Finance Committee and Dr Akhil Gupta, Registrar, Anesthesia, organized the whole event under the patronage and support of Principal, GMC, Jammu.
The welcome address was presented by Dr Zahid Gillani while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Bhupesh Khajuria.
