Curfew like restrictions lifted in SeK, downtown Srinagar

SRINAGAR, MAY 28 (UNI):- Security personnel checking the curfew pass to pillion riders at Safakadal in down town where Curfew was imposed along with areas falling under seven police stations in Srinagar and majority towns in the Kashmir valley, where separatists had called for two-day strike begins Sunday in protest against the killing of top Hizbul Mujhideen commander Sabzar Bhat and others in two separate encounter with Security forces on Saturday.UNI PHOTO-34U

 

SRINAGAR:  Curfew like restrictions in Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and downtown here as a precautionary measure to prevent any protest were lifted today.

 All gates of historic Jamia Masjid, stronghold of chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) which were closed early yesterday are open and number of security forces and state police personnel deployed in the area have been withdrawn.

 Officials said that restriction under Section 144 CrPC had been imposed  imposed in the areas falling under five police stations in the SeK and downtown Srinagar to prevent any violence.

 They said there was no restriction in any part of the city today.

 All road blocks put up by the security forces have also been lifted. However, at some places security forces remained deployed to prevent any law and order problem.

 The Nallahmar road from Khanyar to Qamarwari which was also closed for any movement, witnessed very heavy rush. Barbed wire to block the main and link roads have also been removed.   (AGENCIES)
