Curfew relaxed in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 4: After a peace march by the Shia-Sunni Unity Committee in the curfew bound areas of Srinagar, authorities this evening relaxed curfew where it remained enforced for past one week.
The Shia-Sunni Unity Committee formed by Chairman of the Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Omar today took out a peace march through the curfew bound areas from Mirwaiz Manzil in Rajouri Kadal to worst hit sectarian clashes area of Zadibal this afternoon.
The curfew was relaxed soon after the peace march initially between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. but the relaxation was later extended after situation remained peaceful in the areas of Naid Kadal, Hawal, Bohri Kadal, Rajouri Kadal, Gojwara, Nowhetta, Zadibal, Alamgari Bazar areas following under the Police Stations of Nowhetta, Zadibal and Urdu Bazar.
Soon after the relaxation of curfew the traffic in the areas plied normally however, shops were still closed.
Curfew in Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Safakadal, Khanyar, Rainawari, Nigeen, Lal Bazaar, Zadibal and Parimpora police station areas of Srinagar was imposed on last Wednesday following sectarian clashes in Hawal area of Srinagar.
It was later lifted on last Saturday following improvement in the situation but was re-imposed on Saturday evening in Zadibal, Nowhatta and Urdu Bazar police stations of Srinagar after fresh clashes on Saturday took place.
