MENDHAR, July 3: A customer was robbed off his rupees one lakh cash at Mendhar branch of the State Bank of India today.
Reports said that one Mohd Shafiq, son of Veeru, resident of Saruti village in Ari, had gone to SBI Mendhar to deposit Rs one lakh cash in his saving account. He started filling up challan form after inquiry from the bank staff. When he moved to the cashier’s window after standing in queue for some time, he found that his money had been stolen from his pocket. He raised alarm and bank staff and other customers surrounded him. Later, they lodged a report with police. The locals of the area expressed strong resentment and asked how money was stolen from the bank branch when CCTVs are installed by the bank. Shafiq was working in Saudi Arabia and had recently returned home.
The police was investigating.
