In reference to the news item published in your paper on 27th September, ‘Non-compliance in tackling corruption’, CVC’s (Central Vigilance Commission) annual report makes it very evident that the independent agency is not free from control and interference. The parasitical attitude of the authorities is a significant threat to the integrity of the administration. Non-compliance observed at various administrative levels shows the interference to safeguard individual interest. To ensure a more accountable functioning CVC should be given more powers in order to act more virtuously and also take preventive measures in such cases for a smooth administration at all levels.
