JAMMU, Jan 31: A deputation of Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) called on Director CAPD, Jammu to discuss various problems being faced by the consumers and lack of interest of the consumer protection agencies to come to the rescue of the consumers.
The delegation members, including president Vikram Gour, general secretary B M Kohli and Er Ashok Kaul, demanded timely availability of food grains at ration depots, digitization of ration cards and uploading them on internet/website for information of consumers and inviting objections if any, bifurcation of ration cards, holding of Price Fixation Committee meetings at regular intervals to regulate the prices, display of rate lists of vegetables, fruits etc and down ward revision of fares and transport charges for carriage of passengers and goods due to more than 20 percent fall in prices of petrol and diesel.
The Director CAPD gave a patient hearing on all these issues and assured availability of food grain in time. He also informed that CAPD is going ahead with the digitization of ration cards for the convenience of consumers.
