CWA takes up railway passengers’ issues with DTM

JAMMU, Jan 15: Consumers’ Welfare Association (CWA) led by its president Er Vikram Gour met Sudir Kumar Singh, Divisional Traffic Manager (DTM), Jammu and discussed various problems being faced by railway passengers at Railway Station here.
During the meeting, various issues were discussed including congestion at railway station due to lack of space especially at platform number 1, non-functional railway restaurant at platform number 1, dilapidated condition of parking, inadequate cleanness in the train compartments and providing of clean bed sheets and pillow covers/blankets to passengers traveling in AC compartments, immediate provision for additional train from Jammu to Haridwar, as already announced by the Railway Minister.
The other issues discussed in the meeting included involvement of Consumer Welfare/ Railway Users Associations while framing proposals for upgrading of facilities to passengers, ensuring strict adherence to Food Safety Act in preparation and service of hygienically prepared food for railway users.
DTM, Jammu gave a patient hearing and assured all possible cooperation and help in mitigating the difficulties of railway users/passengers traveling from Jammu railway station.
He also informed that another entry/exit point is being contemplated at the railway station which will reduce congestion at the platforms. He also advised that passengers should immediately register their complaints in the Complaint Book, whenever they find any laxity in the services provided by railways.
He stated that passengers can also register their complaints with the appropriate railway authorities whose phone numbers and jurisdictions can be found from the website of railways. As regards additional train for Haridawar, he said that it may take sometime.
