JAMMU, June 5: The Cyber Cell of Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have prevented Rs 1.01 lakh online frauds.
A Cyber Cell official said in one case, a complainant joined a telegram group and invested Rs 60,272 on assurance of job from the fraudsters.
In another case, he said, a woman was cheated by a fraudster posing himself as a police officer, who coerced the victim to credit Rs 50000 into his account for getting her husband released from the custody.
During investigation in both cases, the Cyber Cell official said that the investigating teams acted swiftly and put on hold Rs 1, 01,272 out of Rs 1, 10,272 cheated from the individuals.
Further investigation in twin cases is underway, he said.
