JAMMU, Apr 27: The Cyber Cell of Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed it has put on hold over Rs 1.16 lakh defrauded by online fraudsters.
A spokesperson of the Cyber Cell said that a complaint regarding financial fraud of Rs 26000 was received from an individual who was given a task of reviewing and rating hotels and restaurants to earn money. In the process, he was duped of his hard-earned Rs 26000.
Another complaint was received from an individual who claimed he was deceived of Rs 53, 403 by certain individuals promising him job.
In the third complaint involving a fraud of Rs 19, 071, the victim’s phone was hacked by the fraudsters after he clicked an unknown APK file.
During the investigation, the Cyber Cell acted swiftly on all the complaints and put on hold an amount of Rs 1, 16, 930 out of Rs 1, 40, 683 defrauded by the fraudsters separately.
Further investigation in all the cases is underway.
