Srinagar, Dec 31: The Cyber Cell of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Ganderbal district has successfully resolved financial fraud cases totaling Rs 17 lakh and recovered 87 missing smartphones over the past nine months, officials said on Tuesday.

Since its inception in March 2024, the Cyber Cell Ganderbal has recovered 87 mobile phones, which were either lost or stolen, from various locations.
Of these, 74 mobile phones were earlier returned to their rightful owners, while the remaining 13 were handed over during a meeting on Tuesday.
The total value of these recoveries amounts to approximately Rs 16 lakh, according to a police statement.
In addition to the recovery of phones, the Cyber Cell has resolved financial fraud cases involving Rs 17 lakh, of which Rs 3,78,527 has already been refunded to victims’ accounts.
The police also announced the resolution of over 56 cases related to blackmailing and social media account hacking, bringing significant relief to the victims.
During the meeting, where the 13 recovered phones were distributed, the recipients expressed gratitude for the efforts of the Ganderbal Police.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Raghav S, reiterated the commitment to combating cybercrimes. He urged the public to report cyber-related issues and assured them that all complaints would be addressed with sincerity and sensitivity.
The SSP also announced the establishment of a 24×7 Cyber Helpline number, 9541786772, for the Ganderbal district. The helpline will provide assistance to the public in addressing any cyber-related concerns. (Agenciese)
