Cyber fraud thwarted: Police

JAMMU, May 20: The Cyber Cell of the Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have thwarted an online fraud.
A Cyber Cell official said that a complaint was received regarding financial fraud amounting to Rs 11,12,000.
Quoting the content of the complaint, he said, the victim joined a WhatsApp group for review on restaurants and hotels and invested Rs 11,12,000 in several transactions followed by which his number was blocked by the fraudsters.
During investigation of the case, he said, the Cyber Cell acted swiftly and put on hold an amount of Rs 6,50,472 out of Rs 11,12,000.
“The remaining amount is also likely to be put on hold,” he said, adding that further investigation into the case is underway.
