Cyber Police Jammu warns public against ‘Golden Hike Digital Investment’ scam

JAMMU, Oct 5: The Cyber Police Station Jammu has issued a public advisory warning against a fraudulent investment scheme operating under the name “Golden Hike Digital Company” on the messaging platform Telegram.
According to the advisory, fraudsters pose as representatives of this fake investment company, assigning tasks to victims and initially paying them small amounts to gain their trust.
Once victims are trapped, the scammers encourage them to invest more, after which they cut off communication and block the victims, said the advisory.
The advisory further revealed that fraudsters send suspicious links to victims, gaining access to their mobile phones without their knowledge, and using this access to commit financial frauds.
To help the public identify such scams, the Cyber Police Jammu has advised people to be cautious of unsolicited offers on social media platforms, especially advertisements that promise unrealistic profits.
“Fraudsters often reach out via phone calls, texts, or emails, pushing victims to make quick investment decisions. Offering high returns with little to no risk is another common tactic used by scammers,” warned Cyber Police Jammu.
To protect themselves, the public has been urged to avoid falling for fake advertisements on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, and to ignore any suspicious unsolicited communication.
People are also advised to thoroughly verify the legitimacy of any company before investing.
The advisory also emphasized the importance of not sharing personal credentials with anyone.
In case of financial fraud, the public is encouraged to report the crime via the NCRP portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in) or by calling the helpline at 1930.
