Srinagar, Oct 16: Dabur India Ltd, a leading Ayurveda-based company, has partnered with Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K) to provide beekeeping training to local youth in Kashmir.
This collaborative effort involves a seven-day training program at the university, focusing on efficient bee colony management and best beekeeping practices.
The training, organizers said, company aims to empower local youth with income-generating opportunities and bridge skill gaps.
Dabur India Limited’s Marketing Head for Health Supplements, Prashant Agarwal, emphasized the significance of beekeeping in preserving the environment, promoting food security, and offering sustainable livelihoods.
This initiative, he said, seeks to provide valuable opportunities for local youth while promoting ethical and sustainable beekeeping practices.
The comprehensive training covers beekeeping best practices, hive management, honey production, bee health, and ethical treatment.
At the same time, it equips novice and experienced beekeepers with the knowledge and skills needed for successful, ethical, and sustainable beekeeping, including hive maintenance, disease management, pollination services, and honey extraction techniques.
Professor T. H. Masoodi, Director of Research at SKUAST-K, highlighted the importance of beekeeping in agriculture and economic empowerment for unemployed educated youth.
He expressed gratitude to Dabur India Limited for their support in organizing the training program.
