DADAA apprises MP about demands of Jammu artists

JAMMU, Sept 7: A delegation of Doordarshaan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADAA) called on Member of Parliament Jammu Poonch constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma and BJP’ s State spokesperson Brig Anil Gupta here today and apprised him of their long pending demands.
The delegation, which was led by the president of DADAA, J S Babli, demanded establishing of satellite (DTH) Duggar Channel and enhancement of budget of Jammu Doordarshan Jammu. The delegation handed over memorandum regarding the demands, addressed to Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Defense Ministry, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
Janak Khajuria, one of the members of the delegation said that DADAA is demanding satellite Duggar Channel with sole aim to promote, protect and develop the rich cultural heritage and languages spoken in the Duggar land. He said that there is more than one crore Dogri speaking population stretched in between Mirpur, Bimtber, Bag, Siyalkot and Shakargarh in Pakistan, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Hoshiarpur in Panjab and some portion of Himachal Pardesh.
The delegation also apprised the MP that Jammu is a suitable place being near to the International Border and Line of Control to propagate and promote the prospective policies of Govt of India in regard to Kashmir tangle to convince the masses living across the border effectively and counter the false propaganda by Pakistan.
The delegation informed that about ten thousand artists, producers, technician and spots are totally dependent of Doordarshan Jammu and they are at verge of starvation as the budget for Jammu Doordarshan has not been enhanced. Jugal Kishore Sharma and Brig Anil Gupta listened to the delegation patiently and assured to take the matter with Prasar Bharti.
