JAMMU, Aug 2: A delegation of Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADAA) Jammu met Chairman of Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Gulam Nabi Azad at his office chamber, here today and apprised him of their long pending demands.
The delegation led by JS Babli (president, DADAA) and comprising of Madan Rangila (vice president), Sandeshvir (general secretary), Kulbhushan Sharma, Arvind Anand, Suresh Sharma, Vageesh Sharma, Subhash Jamwal, Harbans Sharma, Suhail Kou and Janak Khajuria (secretary cum spokesperson) demanded satellite (DTH) Duggar channel and handover a memorandum to Azad regarding their demands.
Babli said that DADAA is demanding satellite Duggar Channel with sole aim to promote, protect and develop the rich culture, heritage and languages spoken in the Duggar land and also generate the employment. He said that more than one crore population stretched between Mirpur, Bhimber, Bag, Siyalkot and Shakargarh in Pakistan and Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Hoshiarpur in Panjab and some portion of Himachal Pardesh speaks Dogri language.
Janak Khajuria apprised Azad that Jammu is a suitable place being near to the International Boarder and Line of Control to propagate and promote the prospective polices of Government of India with regard to Kashmir tangle to convince the masses living across the border effectively and counter the false propaganda against the state as well as our country by Pakistan.
Khajuria informed the him that about 10,000 artists, producers, technicians, musicians and spot boys of Union Territory are totally dependent on Doordarshan and they are facing starvation as till date the productions of Drama as well as of serials are totally stopped as at present DDK Jammu is only just Kendra but the budget is not provided.
He requested Azad to advocate their demand of budget in grant for DDK Jammu and immediate restoration of in-house programs in the categories of Drama/Serials and developmental programs will provide some relief to the local artist.
Azad listened to the delegation patiently and assured to take up the matter with concerned authorities.
