JAMMU, Dec 20: A deputation of Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA), called on Minister for Tourism and culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora, to discuss the proposal for development of historic Khooneshwar Aap Shambu temple, Khoon in Majalta tehsil besides deliberating upon arrangements for 8th annual Gramin cum Maha Shivratri Mela being held every year in the famous temple.
The deputation led by its chairperson, Surat Singh Sumbria, urged upon the Minister to look into the development proposal of this temple of great historic and religious significance which occupies 17th place in the most revered religious destinations in the country’s north zone.
Sumbria also discussed with the Minister arrangements for annual Shivratri Mela and urged upon him to direct the concerned agencies to extend their cooperation, as per past practice, in making this religious cum awareness fair a grand success.
During the Mela different departments install their respective stalls to create awareness among the rural people about the government programmes. Besides, the event also provides a platform to the local youth to exhibit their talent in different field.
The Minister on the spot issued telephonic instructions, to the Director Tourism to take necessary steps in this regard.
