DAHWA holds camps

UDHAMPUR, May 8: Destitute And Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) organized two camps, one each at tehsil headquarters Majalta and at Khoon under the chairmanship of its founder Surat Singh Sumbria.
A large number of people from all the villages of Majalta tehsil participated in the camps. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, who was specially deputed by District Social Welfare Officer Udhampur, Yash Pal Sharma, distributed pension cheques amongst the deserving widows and others.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officer apprised the gathering about various scholarship schemes of the SWD and appealed the deserving people to avail benefits.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Sumbria urged for settlement of old pension cases and while expressing gratitude to the District Social Welfare Officer also demanded that enhanced pension at the rate of Rs 1000 be sanctioned and released at an earliest.
