Daily Rated Workers Association holds protest

JAMMU, Jan 16: Daily Rated Workers Association held a protest under the presidentship of Nisar Ahmed, here today.
A large number of daily rated workers assembled outside Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department
While speaking, the activists of the Association said that the PHE Department has disbursed the salary to other workers and not to authenticated workers.
While speaking, Nisar Ahmed said that the Finance Department released Rs 47.50 crore for the financial year 2018-19 for the disbursement of the salary to the 4905 authenticated workers engaged by the PHE Minister in November 2005.
“A verification was carried out and it was found that the 4905 authenticated workers are entitled for the pay, but the PHE Department ignored the authenticated workers and utilized the funds in favour of different workers”, he added.
He appealed to the Government to direct the PHE Department to disburse the salary to the authenticated workers in the shortest possible time, failing which they will intensify their protest and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible.
Ahmed also demanded action against the officials involved the diverting the salary of authenticated workers to different workers.
Riyaz Ahmed, Jan Mohammad, Swaran, Shiv Dayal, Bashir and many others participated in the protest.
