UDHAMPUR, Sept 8: The daily wagers of different departments are planning not to cast their votes in upcoming Assembly elections. This was announced by the senior trade union leader Som Nath in a press conference held here today.
Addressing to the media persons, the Trade Union leader strongly criticized the attitude of UT Administration and said that there are 61000 daily wagers of the different departments, who are suffering from more than 25 years, but no one has thought about these daily wagers and befooled them.
In the upcoming Assembly elections, we are planning not to cast our votes to the persons, who befooled the daily wagers.
He said, “The UT Government is violating the Minimum Wages Act and pending wages of daily wagers for 6 years (2014 to 2020). The Central Government is releasing the funds but UT Government is not clearing the pending liability of daily wagers.”
Senior Trade Union leader also raised the genuine demands of the daily wagers including, regularization of daily wagers of all departments.
He said, “All the daily wagers are working in these departments waiting for justice. At present, the salary paid to daily wagers is not enough to meet their daily expenses. The UT Administration is shameful for this act. We are serving the Government in various departments for more than 25 years but our future is unsecure.”
The other demands of the daily wagers are implementation of Minimum Wages Act, shortage of staff in all departments, lifting the ban on the protest by the daily wagers and the removal of taxes on daily wagers
Among others who addressed the conference included Tej Bhadur, Barkat Ali, Sandokh Chand, Mohd Sharief and Prem Nath.
