Daily wagers of JKPDC hold protest, demand release of pending salaries

JAMMU, Jan 28: Demanding release of their pending salaries, the daily wagers of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) held protest here today.
A large number of daily wagers assembled out Chief Engineer office of JKPDC and held protest. They raised slogans demanding release of their pending salaries.
“From the past one year, we are working without pay. We are facing acute hardships and our families are at the verge of starvation”, the protestors said.
“It has become almost impossible for them to feed their families. Our children are also facing problems to continue their studies as schools demand fees, which we can’t pay”, they added.
The protestors appealed to the higher authorities of JKPDC to release the pending salaries so that they can have some sigh of relief.
Later, Chief Engineer of JKPDC met with the protesting daily wagers and assured them that their pending salaries will be released within week.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed.
