Daily wagers of PHE Deptt continue dharna for second consecutive day

LEH, June 8: Demanding release of their pending wages, the daily wagers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department continued their sit in dharna for the second consecutive day here.
Sitting on dharna infront of PWD office here, the daily wagers suspended the drinking water supply since June 6 due to which the people are facing manifold problems.
The agitating employees alleged that the administration including Divisional Commissioner failed to redress their problem despite repeated requests.
One of the employee Stanzin Angchok who claimed to spend 19 years in PHE Department as daily wagers said that they have approached Hill Council, Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner a number of times but all of them fails to solve their problems.
“We have been forced to come on road and we will not allow to supply drinking water in the whole district till our demands are redressed”, said Angchuk.
All the 23 Nambardars around Leh and its vicinity also came out in their support today to urge the administration to solve their problems.
Deskitsal Nambardar Stanzin Otsal said that the administration had given them assurance to solve their issues soon, adding that if the issue is not resolve by tomorrow, even Nambardars will come on roads to support agitated workers.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa assured to sort out the issue at the earliest.
Ex-MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora apprised the Government about the issues being faced by the daily wagers of PHE Department in Leh.
