Daily wagers strike affecting water, power supply: JKPCC

JAMMU, Dec 31: Expressing concern over the continued agitation of daily wagers of PHE, Irrigation and FC and PDD, JKPCC has said that the failure to address their issues has adversely affected the supply of water and power in various parts.
JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma (ex-MLC) urged the Governor to intervene into the matter to maintain the regular water and power supply as most of the rural areas were getting affected due to the ongoing agitation of daily wagers, casual, need based workers assigned to maintain these supplies.
He said that these workers are without wages for the most of the period during the year and have arrears of wages of 48 months etc. “The previous PDP-BJP Government totally mishandled their issues of regular wages and regularization and the Government is still unable to sort out and go ahead with their regularization despite SRO 520 having been issued by the Governor in the recent past,” the ex-MLC said.
“Let the Government pay them wages, till the process of regularization is completed in a time bound manner, so that water supply is restored in the rural areas of the State, otherwise the people are facing great hardship,” he added.
