DAK aghast over ‘unethical’ conduct of Tehsildar Bandipora

Srinagar, Aug 14: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today expressed concern over the incident where it said that some “so-called journalists” created a ruckus in the District Hospital Bandipora and interfered in the management of a critically ill patient in the ward.
“On the contrary tehsildar Bandipore working against the normal dictum has summoned treating doctors to his office without obtaining prior information from Medical Superintendent, DH Bandipora,” DAK said.
It said that at District Hospital Bandipore one patient had suffered anaphylaxis due to iron sucrose injection and the lady medical officer rushed to treat the patient without wasting any time.
“The patient was stabilized and a senior physician was called to further guide and manage the patient. The physician on duty immediately rushed from the OPD and attended the patient,” DAK said.
While doctors were examining the patient, DAK said, some suspicious people claiming to be journalists started taking photographs of the uncovered patient and shoot the video of the patient in the ward and including the doctors.
“While this was happening, the doctors objected to the video shoot and asked the suspicious people of their identity and permission to shoot the inside ward which is unethical and derogatory,” DAK said.
This, the medico body said, led to an altercation between the doctors and the persons claiming to be the journalists. “A complaint was also lodged by the doctors with the hospital authorities.”
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK )appeals to police authorities to lodge an FIR against the culprits who have interfered in the functioning of the hospital and risked the life of the patient.
President DAK Dr M. Yousuf Tak while taking a strong note of the incident has appealed to Divisional Commissioner and District Commissioner Bandipora to seek an explanation from the concerned Tehsildar.
