LEH, Aug 25: Tibetan spiritual leader The Dalai Lama today stressed for communal harmony in the region and equal respect for all religions even as he assured to visit the Union Territory of Ladakh again next year.
He was speaking at a massive function organized by various organizations and administration of Ladakh to bid farewell to him after his nearly 40 days long visit to the Union Territory.
Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA) jointly hosted thanksgiving luncheon in honour of The Dalai Lama at Abi-Spang Spituk here today.
Rinpoche from different monasteries , Leh Hill Council Chairman Advocate Tashi Gyalson, Executive Councillors, MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Advisor to LG Ladakh, Umang Narula, Jigmet Takpa, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Commissioner/Secretary Information & Higher Education Padma Angmo, Councillors, Ladakh Police Additional DGP SS Khandare, Deputy Commissioner Leh and SSP Leh were present on the occasion.

Senior citizens above 80 years, physically challenged persons, monks from different monasteries and LBA General Council members were given special audience today by the Tibetan spiritual leader.
The Dalai Lama, in his speech, stressed to maintain communal harmony in the region and added that he respects all religions equally. He also assured to revisit Ladakh again next year and added that this is not his last visit.
On the occasion, The Dalai Lama also laid the foundation stone of International Institute for Culture and Ethics, an initiative of Flowering Dharma, a youth organization, to establish the International Institute of Culture and Ethics (IICE) at Chuchot Gongma for preservation and promotion of Indian Wisdom Tradition, Himalayan Cultural Heritage, Art, Languages, Emotion, Ethics and Science.
The Dalai Lama has also contributed a sum of Rs three lakh as a blessing and seed fund towards the project, for which the organization expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Holiness and his office on behalf of the people of the Himalayan region from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh.
LBA President Thupstan Chhewang and LGA President Acharya Tenzin Wangchuk, in their address, expressed gratitude to Dalai Lama for his visit to Ladakh.
The Tibetan spiritual leader reached Leh on July 16 and stayed in Ladakh for nearly 40 days during which he visited several places in the Union Territory and addressed various functions.
He will depart from Leh tomorrow by air for New Delhi after nearly 40-day long sojourn to Ladakh.
The motorcade of the Tibetan spiritual leader is expected to leave Photang Gapheling Jevetsal at 7.30 am for KBR Airport, Leh, an official statement issued by the Ladakh Buddhist Association said.
