JAMMU, June 19: Vice-Chairman, Kissan Advisory Board, Jammu and Kashmir Daljit Singh Chib stressed on timely procurement of seeds and fertilizers for the welfare of agriculturist.
Chib chaired a high-level meeting of Agriculture and its allied departments at the office of Kissan Advisory Board, here at Jammu.
Director Agriculture, Surinder Singh Jamwal, Deputy Director Horticulture, Rajeev Mahajan, Director CAPD GS Chib, General Manager FCI, Kishore Sharma and Project Director Command Area Development, Omkar Singh Choudhary, DP Khajuria member Kulbushan Khajuria farmer, Avtar Singh Farmer, Rajesh Sharma (Bitu) farmer, Choudhary Dev Raj, farmer Suraj Parkash Sharma, Farmer and Kuldeep Raj Farmer were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the official apprised Vice Chairman that department face immense hardship in procurement and storage of seeds and fertilizers, which would consume time and further affect the sowing of seed and growth of crop.
Daljit Singh stated that the Board has been constituted recently and future procurements would be done timely.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib directed the officials to start identifying the centers for procurement so that it make easy for procurement before the monsoon session.
He further said that crop insurance and its linkage with Kisan Credit Cards required to be streamlined and action initiated before the commencement of crops sowing so that the benefits of crop sowing are made available under new weather based insurance scheme for the participating farmers.
Chib also stressed upon the co-ordination between all the departments which are directly related to farmers so that they would not face problems.
