DODA Jan 20: Continuing the protests against the unfriendly land eviction order, hundreds of leaders and workers from Democratic Azad Party (DAP) today held a peaceful protest at Doda.
The protesters marched towards DC office and submitted the memorandum to DC Doda in presence of District president DAP Asif Gattu, general secretary DAP RS Chib, vice chairman GM Saroori, Jugal Kishore Sharma Provincial president, Aslam Goni Working Committee member, Salman Nizami chief spokesperson, PR Manhas Zonal president, Ex- MLC Sham Lal Bhagat, Ramesh Parihar, Capt Sham Lal, Iqbal Kohli and others.
Chib said that as long as the order is not revoked, they will continue to register their protests across the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir. The protest was organized on the instructions of party chief Ghulam Nabi Azad.
He said in view of the decision taken by the Supreme Court of India, we demand that the UT Govt should come out with full details about all the cases so that the interest of the poor people is safeguarded. The SC directions not to demolish the houses, makes our demand more genuine and justified.
“We will continue our protest, till order is not revoked and fresh order be issued to safeguard the genuine cases,” GM Saroori, Vice Chairman said.
“Our only demand is government shall revoke this order. We have the first right over our resources and our bureaucrats can’t render people homeless while sitting in cosy rooms,” he added.
Nizami said the order by the Government is reflecting its mind-set towards the needy and poor people. “If they continue to have same mind-set, the day is not far when every person will be on roads against the government,” he said.
Jugal Kishore, Provincial president urged the government to revoke the order on humanitarian grounds and spare the common and poor people in these harsh winters.
The protest was held despite rains and snowfall in the area which failed to dampen the spirit of protesters.
Among others who participated in the protest were Asghar Khanday, Iqbal Telli, Amin Magray, Amar Chand Bhagat, Neelam Devi, Shafi Magray, Pritam Kotwal, Fatima Shikari, Ashraf Malik, Kartar Singh, Jagdish Bhagat and others.
