JAMMU, Oct 18: Former minister and general secretary, Democratic Azad Party (DAP), R S Chib today said that DAP was committed for waging struggle for restoration of statehood to J&K.
While addressing a public meeting at Maralia (Miransahib) Chib called upon the people to come forward and join Democratic Azad Party and strengthening the hands of Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said that it is most unfortunate that the state of Jammu & Kashmir was downgraded to Union Territory from the full fledged state on August 5, 2022.
Chib urged upon the Union Govt that the J&K UT should be given the statehood and the Assembly elections should be held at the earliest. He further said that all political parties and even BJP and people in general are in favour of statehood.
He said that the Govt should provide guarantee for the land and job for the locals. He said the DAP will continue its struggle for getting the statehood and also security of land and services for the local population.
DAP leader further said that in the absence of elections and without public representatives, the process of development is moving at snail pace and the people at large are suffering. The bureaucratic setup for a longer periods, cannot be the replacement of the democratic system.
Chib said that it was a golden period, when the state was ruled by Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister. He compared that period with the period when the state was under the BJP and said that the people have not forgotten the historical decisions by taken Azad Govt in respect of creation of new Districts, establishment of new Medical Colleges, creation of new road network, development of parks and creation of new Job avenues, for the youth.
A large number of leaders and workers, from the BJP, AAP and Congress Joined the DAP on the occasion.
The prominent among those included, Panch Chander Prakash District president AAP, Jammu South, Naib Sarpanch Rura Ram of Gazia, Sham Lal Thapa, general secy AAP, Neelam Panch Gazia, Panch Mohinder Lal, Adv Chander Bhan N/Sarpanch Hardev Singh and others.
Prominent among those who addressed the meeting included Badri Nath Sarpanch, Chander Bhan, Rampal, Mehta Nirmal Singh and Chander Parkash.
