Dar reviews functioning of GMC, Associated Hospitals

JAMMU, Sept 22: Stressing for prompt and timely execution of services, Minister of State for R&B, Health, Medical Education and Agriculture, Javed Ahmed Dar, exhorted upon the Health and Medical Education functionaries to be more responsive towards patient care.
The Minister said this while chairing a high level meeting convened to review the functioning of Government Medical College Jammu and Associated Hospitals, here today.
The Minister expressed concern over certain issues taking place in these institutions and cautioned that no laxity will be tolerated as far the patient care is concerned.
Mr. Dar took stock of sewerage and drainage system in GMC and directed the concerned to devise an effective mechanism to deal with this vital system in the hospital. He asked the concerned to engage additional number of safai karamcharis to drain out the waste at the earliest.
The Minister asked the officers to suggest innovative ideas so that most effective sewage treatment plants in health institutions could function properly with added results.
He directed Principal Medical College Jammu to conduct review meeting once a month to discuss the vital issues like repair and renovations. He asked them to identify grey areas for further improvement in functioning of the hospital.
He also asked the administrative units of GMC and hospitals to redouble their efforts for smooth and people friendly functioning of health institutions which is pre-requisite for establishing a healthy society.
The Minister termed collective efforts and team spirit as an essential component for the success of any institution  and asked all the concerned to work in tandem to meet the responsibilities of their profession.
The meeting was attended by acting Principal GMC, Dr. Aniece Choudhary, Medical Superintendent GMC, and Chief Engineer R&B, SE, R&B, and officers of R&B, Health, Medical Education and other concerned departments.
