SRINAGAR, Nov 24:  BJP candidate from Sonawar constituency, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today filed nomination papers in Srinagar here today.
Dr Andrabi, who has been fielded by the top BJP leadership against the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from Sonawar constituency, led a huge road show from Indira Nagar to the Deputy Commissioner’s office amid resonating sloganeering from her supporters. The party workers and her supporters were carrying the party flags and the banners.
The large rally passed through main markets of the area and then it culminated at Indira Nagar, where Dr Darakhshan Andrabi addressed the huge gathering. In her address the BJP leader said that she was overwhelmed with the public support and was confident of her win. Dr Darakhshan said that she doesn’t feel a tough competition in Sonawar even against Chief Minister because the people are dejected with NC and PDP.
“Mine is a flood-hit constituency and the people have seen me in rescue operations working like a volunteer during the tough days and trusting my representative character,” said Dr Andrabi.
She said that she will work hard for the people’s rehabilitation in the area. Dr Andrabi further said that she has always seen BJP as a secular force and it does not need the certification from the NC, PDP or Congress who have always played the card of communal divide to get votes. She said that now the youth cannot be be-fooled by these `political traders’.
