Darbar re-opening—Sidelights

* Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reached the Civil Secretariat at 9.30 am sharp and straightway went for inspecting the guard of honour and taking salute.
* He addressed the customary press conference alone while his Council of Ministers, Advisors and top bureaucrats were seated at his left and right.
* Various organisations of Civil Secretariat Government employees had put up banners in the Secretariat welcoming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
* The employees and their representatives repeatedly raised slogans in the Secretariat “Hamara Chief Minister Kaisa Ho, Omar Abdullah Jaisa Ho’.
* Some of the Ministers were seen hugging each other as they met after few days as the Civil Secretariat had closed in Srinagar on October 26.
* The Civil Secretariat was today packed to capacity with majority of employees making entry around 9 am.
* Chief Minister Omar Abdullah accompanied by his Political Advisor Devender Rana, Chief Secretary Madhav Lal and Home Secretary BR Sharma inspected some Government offices and inter-acted with the employees.
* Tight security arrangements had been made both inside and outside the Civil Secretariat for the opening of Darbar. Senior police officers were also present in the Secretariat.
* The Legislative Council and Assembly Secretariat also started functioning today in Jammu.
* The Chief Minister said the Government would devote itself to development as well as budget session of the Legislature.
