SRINAGAR, June 3: In view of extreme weather conditions presently prevailing in Jammu region and outside the State, the Finance Department has decided to extend the date of verification of the pensioners by the Treasury Officers up to October, 2013.
The Government order to this effect was issued by Director General Accounts and Treasuries, A. M. M. Jehangir here today.
All the Treasury Officers have been asked to adhere to these instructions in letter and spirit and no pension for the month of October, 2013 drawn in November, 2013 and onwards be allowed to such of the pensioners who are not physically verified.
However, in case any pensioner for some reason who could not get the physical verification conducted earlier comes forward after the cut-off date, he should be allowed pension under rules after conducting the physical verification.
The Treasury Officers have also been directed to exempt such pensioners from personal appearance, who are unable to appear in person due to illness, old age and other valid reasons and in such cases the Treasury Officers were asked to depute a member of the treasury staff to their residences for such verification. Similarly, the procedure for verification of the pensioners residing abroad, as laid down in the rules, was ordered to be strictly followed for convenience of these senior citizens.
Earlier, all the Treasury Officers were directed to commence the task of conducting the physical verification of the pensioners either drawing their pension from the Treasuries or through the J&K Bank Business units and complete the same by end of June, 2013, which has now been extended to October, 2013.
