Dawakhana operations disallowed for unfair trade practices

JAMMU, Dec 8: Drugs and Food Control Organization today disallowed operations of two Dawakhana pharmacies with immediate effect for adopting unfair trade practices.
Teams of Drugs Control officers conducted simultaneous surprise raids on the premises of M/s Dawakhana situated at BC Road, Rehari Chungi and Dawakhana situated at Gandhi Nagar Jammu respectively. The firms had obtained Licenses on Form 20 & 21 to sell, stock or exhibit (or offer) for sale, or distribute drugs by retail.
The raids were conducted to ascertain the mechanism of supply / sales pattern of these two Pharmacies. Danish Mishra, Proprietor of the firms was asked to explain as to how signages / hoardings claiming on-line sale of medicines of all categories have been raised at prominent places in Jammu City and also circulated in leading newspapers of the city.
The proprietor failed to explain his action, therefore the Drugs Control Officers concerned disallowed the operations of these two Pharmacies with immediate effect by invoking provisions of Section 22 (1) (d) of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940.
The further investigation in the matter shall follow. The Department has warned dire action against the defaulters.
