Day-long workshop on UAPA, NDPS cases held in Baramulla

SRINAGAR, Nov 23: A day-long workshop on the investigation of special cases, including UAPA and NDPS, was organized by the Range Police Headquarters, North Kashmir, at District Police Lines Baramulla today.
The event, held under the supervision of DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood Ul Zaman, aimed to enhance the skills of officers and update them on SOPs for handling these sensitive cases.
The workshop featured several guest speakers, including Mohammad Ashraf Bakhshi, DDP Baramulla; Gulzar Ahmad, CPO DPO Baramulla; Rafi Ahmad Mir, CPO UAPA Court Baramulla, and retired officers such as Ghulam Haider Badhana, Rafiq Ahmad Vakil, Shabir Ahmad Shah, and Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh.
The event was attended by Investigating Officers from across North Kashmir.
In his inaugural speech, DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood Ul Zaman emphasized the importance of professional investigation in ensuring successful convictions in UAPA and NDPS cases.
He highlighted the critical role of police officers in investigating narcotics-related crimes, gathering intelligence, executing seizures, and handling evidence securely.
Zaman also pointed out that acquittals and bail in such cases erode public trust in the justice system, underscoring the need for thorough investigations.
The workshop included interactive sessions with the prosecution department and retired officers, addressing challenges faced in investigations and court processes.
Zaman concluded by thanking the speakers for their valuable contributions, expressing hope that the knowledge shared would guide officers in future investigations.
