JAMMU, Apr 5: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee seeking direction to the respondents to allow the DPs of 1947 to submit mandatory documents as are being submitted by DPs of 1965 and 1971 for the purposes of availing the benefit under Central assistance scheme for one-time settlement of displaced families from PoK and Chhamb under Prime Minister’s Development Package, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi has directed the Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs and Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir through Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.
ASGI Vishal Sharma accepted notice on behalf of MHA and prayed for three weeks’ time to file a counter affidavit. The DB directed Deputy AG Vishal Bharti assisting D C Raina, Advocate General, to seek instructions and, if necessary, may file a formal affidavit.
